Description

In my four years of studying economics and political science at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), I’ve realized the wide pool of jobs that involve economics and political development and dealings. Economics isn’t just about understanding the economy; it is applying basic theories to everyday activities as well. It is about learning to manage real-life situations and think logically with a set process of thinking and all of this helps one to especially encounter real-life situations where one has to act as a leader or a mediator and to get an efficient outcome to that. I have full confidence and belief in these skills that I have developed over these four years. My interest in Research and policy solutions fundamentally originates with my passion for observing and consciously focusing on the other side of the picture which helps me in improving my leadership qualities, more rationally and with more emotional and physical equilibrium.
A reason why I am applying for this job is the fact that it requires a person with having real-life solutions to problems and determination to grow itself as an individual. These are sectors which I think, if I’m put to the test, I’ll be able to do a great job. Interestingly, I won’t claim this all based on my degree but rather on real-life situations that I have faced in my life.

My biggest Human resource Management Experience was when my friends stood up for elections and I was one of their main campaigners and all four of them won their respective seats in the student council. It might not sound like the appropriate experience for a job, but these are the reasons why I think it is; because it’s as real as life can get The problems one faces in gathering up voters in a university where elections are dominated by the extreme level of politics and lobbying. My friends and I sought out ways to approach people and talk to them and try to convince them, relations and contacts were a huge part of all of the processes. How to divide and try to contact and communicate a batch of 900 people wasn’t easy but we did it with some great pre-planning over a period of three months. Successfully we won finally, and it really wasn’t an easy task. The intensity and the seriousness of these elections and my role in them is something I might not be able to fully communicate in this personal statement. But I don’t deem this event to be any less then what practical life has to offer. Since this was a personal statement, I chose to narrate this very recent story so as to convince you that there is more to a person than just his degree and as an undergrad student, I do have multiple internship experiences from last summer where I have to work for 3 enterprises at the moment. One was a proper project-based marketing internship where we work for the brand image and brand health of the company which helps the company to reshape its brand image. The other two are the start-ups out of which soop.io is now live and have around 23 thousand user bases. In conclusion, I would just like to end with a note that I would be very grateful if I’m provided with such an opportunity that introduces me to new horizons.
