Dr. Shanzay Rehman

I am Dr. Shanzay Rehman, and I am writing to express my interest in your esteemed organization  With a Bachelor's degree in Dental Surgery from Baqai Medical University and an MPhil in Oral Pathology from Ziauddin University Karachi, my academic and professional journey has equipped me with a robust foundation in dental sciences and a profound dedication to oral pathology. My passion for oral pathology ignited during my tenure as a house officer at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre Karachi, where I encountered various oral disorders that spurred my curiosity and dedication to this field. Recognizing the significant research gaps in oral pathology and diagnostics in Pakistan further fueled my determination to pursue a Master's in Oral Pathology. Following my academic pursuits, I was honored to join Aga Khan University as a Senior Research Assistant, where I contributed to two significant research projects. The first project involved developing and implementing a curriculum for postgraduate chemical pathology residents in Pakistan, which received approval from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). This role not only honed my curriculum development skills but also provided me with valuable experience in collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including the IT department, to create a Virtual Course on Newborn Screening. This experience enriched my understanding of inherited metabolic diseases and newborn screening practices in Pakistan while enhancing my proficiency in IT and virtual learning environments. The second project focused on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare, where I was instrumental in developing an action plan. This experience broadened my knowledge of AI applications in medical diagnostics and reinforced my project management skills. Additionally, my research endeavors have led to several presentations at esteemed conferences: Emerging Speaker at the 43rd Asia Pacific Dental Congress 2022: "Assessing Oral Cancer Awareness in Undergraduate Medical and Dental Students" Short Communication at the AMEE 2023 Conference in Glasgow, UK Poster Presentations at various conferences including the IQRA, 1st International Health Professions Education Conference 2023 at Aga Khan University, the AKUPI NCDs Research Symposium, and the IFCC-EFLM World Lab-Euro Med Lab 2023 Congress in Rome, Italy Abstract Accepted at the 2023 AACC Annual Scientific Meeting in Anaheim, California These experiences have significantly refined my research and project management skills, fostering effective teamwork among diverse stakeholders. In addition to my professional pursuits, I enjoy reading and graphic designing, with proficiency in Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. These hobbies complement my professional skills by enhancing my creativity and attention to detail.
