I am Dr. Asloob Ahmad Mudassar, Ex-Principal Scientist or Ex-Associate Professor from the department of Physics Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) Islamabad, Pakistan. In 1992 I was recruited by PIEAS with a designation of Scientific Officer (Lecturer). In 1997 I was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer (Assistant Prof.) and in 2005 promoted to Principal Scientist. I served as Principal Scientist (Associate Professor) in PIEAS till May 29, 2018 (date of my retirement). I took early retirement from PIEAS after completing 25 years of service because of no further chances of promotion, no availability of funding for research work, nominal salary package etc. and more important was the unavailability of chances for flourishing scientifically and educationally on international platforms.
During my stay at PIEAS I joined Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK in Nov. 2001. I earned PhD degree in the field of Physics in 2006 and returned Pakistan where I continued my job at PIEAS. During my 25 years’ service at PIEAS, I taught different courses at MS and PhD levels, supervised more than 50 MS/MSc students, supervised 3 PhD students and published 20 papers in reputed refereed journals. I have also written two books (Fourier Optics, Laser Physics) ready for press. Each MS and PhD student theses were based on solid projects. The 3 PhD theses were evaluated by reputed international reviewers who recommended the award of degrees to my PhD students. I have also a very strong computational background. For the MS Physics program in PIEAS, I also developed part of Graduate Laboratory which consisted of 15 optical experiments. I am also reviewer of international journals including OSA.
After 2006 I have been carrying out research in the field of Optical Imaging which has been a main focus of my research activities.
I have reasonable experience and energies to develop new or to upgrade existing Physics Labs along with teaching undergrad and post grad classes.
