About

I am fully involved in interdisciplinary research since last three years. My current area of research lies in the predictability and analyzing geo-spatial dynamics of hydrology. I am conducting a Groundwater vulnerability assessment in Saline areas over Pakistan. Specifically, I am working on developing and implementing different models, and state-of-the-art hydrological assessment tools to quantify and map: 1) Groundwater levels, Groundwater Quality, irrigation network, calculating watersheds and vulnerability assessments.2) Satellite-based flood extent mapping (18-28 August 2022) over Pakistan using Google Earth Engine (GEE), QGIS, ArcGIS, and ERDAS imagine for mapping and image classification along with continuing other responsibilities of being a field surveyor in different international Projects, collecting primary data, data analyzing, data processing, research report writing, benchmarking using GPS Trimble devices and checking water quality using Multimeter device. 3) I also have an intensive experience of developing cartographic small- and large-scale maps from initial step of primary data collection, data management, geo-referencing of images, analysis (Proximity, Overlay, Feature extraction, spatial analysis, projection, transformation) to the last step of printing maps, development of Irrigation network, Landuse/ Landcover (LULC) mapping, Road and railway mapping resettlement plans and maps, drainage mapping, and locational maps. 4) Temporal Change Detection using Google Earth Engine and matrix development. However, my recent past research experience is based on two categories: 1) upstream research which is mostly conducted in laboratories of the universities without considering the real involvements of the endusers, and 2) downstream research which is conducted in the fields by taking stakeholders (in my case disseminating the research outcomes by means of publications to the water managers, policy makers etc.) on board. During my MPhil degree at University of Punjab Pakistan, I thoroughly focused on the upstream research, by establishing, parameterizing, and validating Water Evaluation and Planning Model and hydrological tools with the information from the modern operational satellites such as MODIS, LANDSAT, ASTER, and GEE datasets. Besides my technical knowledge about water resources management from a level of water dispute to governance, I am now able to compliment the classical and intelligent water resource management subjects with hydrological, remote sensing and GIS tools.

On this role, I have worked in different international projects, key contributions involve:  Groundwater vulnerability assessment in the saline areas of Pakistan  Regression modelling using machine learning algorithms  Performing groundwater level mapping  Groundwater quality mapping  Irrigation mapping  Watershed mapping  Development of Irrigation network  Landuse/ Landcover (LULC) mapping  Resettlement plans and maps  Drainage mapping  Spatial, road and railway mapping using Google Earth Engine, QGIS, ArcGIS and ERDAS imagine for image classification  Cartographic small- and large-scale maps from initial step of data collection, data management, geo- referencing of images, analysis (Proximity, Overlay, Feature extraction, spatial analysis, projection, transformation) to the last step of printing maps.  I have an experience of being a field surveyor in two Projects aided by Australia, collecting primary data, data analyzing and processing using KOBO toolbox, research report writing, benchmarking using GPS Trimble devices. I am focusing more on research at international-level scales using geospatial data and techniques.

Worked on a national project, State Land Mapping of Pakistan.  Responsibilities were to develop spatial data of various geological sheets for different cities of Pakistan through digitization incorporating the snapping and tracing environment in ArcGIS v.9. software.  Geo-referenced the geological sheets through absolute and relative Georeferencing techniques while coordinates were converted using the coordinate converter tool in Erdas Imagine v.9.1 software, Image Mosaicing, data management and digitization.
