Summary of Position:

Transmission network planning, design, deployment, integration and optimization. Ensure the transmission network meets the capacity, performance and quality in accordance with the design specification. Meet the KPIs set by the department, the company, and the industry standards.

Regular Duties & Responsibilities:

Most suitable candidate would be responsible for:

  • Microwave access/backhaul, PTP/ backhaul, PTMP & IP network design.
  • Transmission survey supervision, implementation, testing, acceptance, data-basing, optimization and network auditing.
  • Transmission equipment forecasting, budget allocation and forecast, RFPs, requisitions and liaising vendor for P.O issuance and invoicing.
  • Trial and testing of next generation IP MW backhaul Products, Road Map discussions with vendors and product customization.
  • Backhaul network utilization and KPI monitoring; Up-gradation Planning, managing seamless migration and monitoring.
  • Configuration and maintenance of Access switching, Layer 2 convergence and Load sharing.
  • Backhaul plan including Fiber.
  • Measurements and analysis of meteorological events to bring the microwave network design in accordance with the on-field performance.
  • Build and update transmission policies and SOPs.
  • Supervise short and long term objectives for the division.
  • Responsible for regional network design, optimization, performance engineering, traffic engineering, and MW frequency planning activities.
  • Relates network performance data with network design analysis and ensure the principal performance indicators are measured, maintained, and reflect system quality measures.
  • Perform new MW link design, LOS Surveys, Technical site surveys both issue based and routine.
  • Optimize both soft and hard parameters of MW links to meet set KPI targets.
  • Audit to evaluate MW Network and Quality.
  • Coordination with different units for redesigning, task implementation and generation of benchmark reports.
  • Monitoring of MW links.
  • Uses various measurement tools to collect and analyze relevant data.
  • Assists the regional FOPs team in traffic management, Traffic modeling and traffic growth projections.
  • Perform technical evaluations for new products and tools.
  • Research, investigate, test, evaluate and implement all technologies, features and processes which will result in improvement of the quality of the network.
  • Using people skills while responding to technical problems which are experienced by both, internal and external customers.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the direct superior or Head of Department.

Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Path loss experience is must.
  • Knowledge of tools and test equipment used for Data collection and performance measurement of MW links (e.g. JDSU).
  • Should have solid conceptual knowledge of Microwave access/backhaul PTP / backhaul PTMP IP network design.
  • Antenna and Microwave theory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential to this position.
  • Skills to handle a team of 1 to 5 engineers.
  • Skills to manage the entire region.
  • Command on MS Excel (mandatory) and Access (desirable).
  • Presentation skills using MS Power point.

Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelors / Masters’ degree in Electrical /Electronics/Telecommunications. 
  • 4 to 5 years of related MW Planning experience, specifically for IP based Radio experience is required.
