Design and plan RF coverage of the Radio Network. The Engineer also optimizes the network radio performance and plans the capacity of the sites and designs the configuration of each site. Making sure the site is performing according to design objectives with the best quality available. Meet the KPIs set by the department, the company and the industry standards.
Regular Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise short and long term objectives for the division.
- Responsible for regional network design, optimization, performance engineering, traffic engineering and Frequency planning activities.
- Relates network performance data with network design analysis and ensures the principal performance indicators are measured, maintained and should reflect system quality measures from the customer’s perspective.
- Perform new Sites’ design, Area profiling, Technical site surveys; drive testing both issue based and routine for the assigned Cluster / City.
- Optimize both soft and hard parameters of assigned Cluster/city to meet set KPI targets.
- Drive test and evaluate network coverage and quality of service.
- Coordination with different units for re-design task implementation and generation of benchmark reports.
- Monitoring the Site / sector utilization and onward escalation for expansions / dismantling.
- Uses various measurement tools to collect and analyze relevant data including Spectrum Analyzers, and RF data collection tools.
- Assists the RF team in traffic management, Traffic modeling and traffic growth projections.
- Perform technical evaluations for new products and tools.
- Research, investigate, test, evaluate and implement all technologies, features and processes which will result in improvement of the quality of the network and without compromising its profitability.
- Perform model tuning for planning tools.
- Perform Inter-modulation analysis, Isolation studies and EMF calculations.
- Monitoring usage trend of various commercial package and analysing their impact on network capacity.
- Using people skills while responding to technical problems experienced by both, internal and external customers.
- Support associate team members.
- Any other tasks assigned by the direct superior or Head of Department.
Knowledge & Competencies:
- Smooth execution of BTL activities.
- Command on MS Excel (mandatory) and Access (desirable).
- Presentation skills using MS Power point.
- Knowledge of tools and test equipment used for Data collection (e.g., Agilent, Genex Probe, or XCal), Field measurements (e.g., WiMAX Scanner) and Radio Planning (e.g., Mentum Planet) is essential.
- Should have solid conceptual knowledge of RF Engineering, Antenna and Microwave theory.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential to this position.
- Leadership skill to handle a team of 1 to 5 engineers.
Education & Work Experience:
- 4 to 5 years of related RF engineering experience, specifically WiMAX Network Planning and Optimization experience is required. LTE experience will be an advantage.
- Bachelors in Telecommunication. Masters is preferred.
