POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN PLANT MOLECULAR BIOLOGY JOB IN LAHORE
A postdoctoral position is available in the Afzal Lab in the Department of Biology, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, Lahore University of Management Sciences. The lab seeks a postdoctoral researcher to understand the molecular basis of ripening in mango using advanced molecular biology techniques including real time PCR, molecular transfections and next generation sequencing. The project is in collaboration with the Mithani Lab (Computational Systems Biology) at LUMS and will provide an excellent opportunity for the individual to develop skills in plant comparative genomics and transcriptome analysis.

The Department of Biology at SBASSE consists of labs conducting cutting edge research in Cell and Stem Cell Biology, Genetics and Epigenetics, Plant Molecular Biology, Molecular Microbiology and Computational Biology. The successful candidate will therefore get the opportunity to train in an interdisciplinary environment under an atmosphere conducive to scientific development.
Requirements
- PhD in plant molecular biology/physiology or a closely related field
- Research experience in mango ripening physiology will be preferred
- Knowledge of ‘omics’ fields and basic bioinformatics would be an asset
- A strong publication record
- Proficiency in the English language
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and independent individual with excellent communication skills.
