PHD POSITION IN COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY LUMS JOB IN LAHORE
A fully funded PhD position beginning August 2014 is available in the Afzal Lab (Plant Molecular Biology) in the Department of Biology, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, Lahore University of Management Sciences. The successful candidate will aim to understand the molecular basis of ripening in mango using advanced molecular biology techniques including gene cloning, real time PCR, agrobacterium mediated gene transformations and next generation sequencing. The project is in collaboration with the Mithani Lab(Computational Systems Biology) at LUMS and will provide an excellent opportunity for the individual to develop skills in plant molecular biology, genomics and transcriptome analysis.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with analytical reasoning skills and an aptitude for research. The successful applicant must have obtained a research-based MSc degree in a related discipline (e.g., Molecular Biology/Biochemistry, Genomics, Plant Physiology) and should have demonstrated interest and/or experience in team-based and interdisciplinary projects. Students with strong credentials (competitive GPA, strong English proficiency) and publications in peer-reviewed journals are encouraged to apply.
