Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs, the Graphic Designer works under the guidance of the project coordinator, the Marketing Specialist, Digital Media Specialist, or Events Manager, and with other team members in Public Affairs.
The Graphic Designer is responsible for the creation and production of graphic design for print and for digital if applicable. This includes developing original marketing and communications materials for a variety of target audiences and business needs with an institution-wide impact, handling assigned projects effectively with both technical and professional competence, and embracing a commitment to upholding, communicating and helping to evolve the University’s visual identity standards.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•Providing and applying expertise in graphic design and print production
•To execute visually the marketing, communications, recruitment strategies for annual campaigns and flagship events like Convocation, Qatar Career Fair, Open House and many other university projects and activities
•Responsible for ensuring that all graphic work reflects the current standards of the University image, as established by the Public Affairs department and University of Calgary
•Supporting the needs of internal clients by providing creative, effective communications materials in a timely manner
•Understands the graphics trade from both a technical and a marketing perspective
•Actively participates in Marketing and Communications special events or trade shows
•Actively participates in strategic planning with the Public Affairs team, contributing graphic design expertise
