Overview

Applications are invited for a Fellowship training programme in Hospital Medicine. The fellowship training period is for 2 years. This is a post designed to support and enable the further development of Hospital Medicine services at SKMCH&RC where the selected individual will see a wide variety of patients with cancerous as well as non-cancerous conditions.

The selected candidate(s) will be attached with the Hospital Medicine Department rotating through the Emergency Room, inpatients floors, outpatient clinics and Palliative Care. The individual will be expected to strive to develop a special interest in consonance with his or her training and with the needs of the institution. There is special emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach to the management of cancer with site specialist teams comprising of Internal medicine, radiation, medical, surgical oncologists, specialty physicians, radiologists and pathologists.

He/she will participate in an on call rota for assessment and management of patients presenting to the emergency assessment room and inpatient floors. Candidate will be expected to participate in the academic activities of the department including presentations, research, audit, and teaching junior doctors and nurses. This offers a unique experience for the trainees to learn and understand all aspects of managing cancer patients, which will prepare them to become well-trained, highly-qualified hospitalists / physicians according to the international standards. Fellows who perform extremely well during their training may be offered an appointment at consultant level at SKMCH&RC, Peshawar.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • FCPS in Internal Medicine
  • MRCP (UK)
  • Diplomat American Board in Internal Medicine
