EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – LUMS CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP (LCE) LUMS JOBS IN LAHORE

Lahore University of management Sciences (LUMS) is looking for an Executive Director to run the newly formed LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship (LCE). The Executive Director is responsible for executing the overall vision and meeting the strategic objectives of the Center — to become the breeding ground for sustainable and high-growth/high-impact commercial and social ventures in Pakistan. This is a full-time contractual appointment for an initial period of two years, renewable as determined by the board of Directors of the Center.

Responsibilities:

In the formative period:

• Create a brand of the Center within and outside the country
• Define and build the organizational structure of the Center in congruence with the Board of Advisors
• Chalk out details of non-academic programs that the center would regularly run
• Coordinate the alignment of the entrepreneurial goals of the three schools at LUMS with the overall vision of the Center to account for their individual needs
• Maintain liaison with the designated faculty members from each school on important strategic decisions

In steady-state:

• Maintain and enhance the brand of the Center in line with the standing of LUMS within and outside the country
• Oversee the operation of the Center and align it with the proposed and approved budget
• Coordinate the alignment of the individual entrepreneurial goals of each school with the strategic and operational activities of the Center
• Hire, manage and supervise the administrative staff of the Center in line with the operational and strategic requirements of the Centre
• Implement ways to transform academic innovation and scholarship into successful entrepreneurial activity by helping the incubatees to ‘commercialize’ their entrepreneurial projects
• Establish and oversee events that would encourage and support entrepreneurship including but not limited to business plan competitions, seminars and workshops, guest lectures, round table discussions and conferences
• Attract and connect the investor community with the startups incubated at LUMS
• Engage and involve successful entrepreneurs with the Center for seeking mentorship, guidance, and help with generating business for the incubated startups
• Facilitate business, legal, and general advice to ensure successful businesses emerge from the Center. This may include pitch refining, linking and referrals to the right individuals and resources, channelising advice on business and financial plans, and setting realistic goals for a given idea
• Arrange and hold meetings with the Board of Advisors of the Center and share reports and information on activities and initiatives related to business projects and ideas being incubated in the Center

Profile of the Ideal candidate:

• Extensive entrepreneurial experience, including experience of managing or growing businesses, raising capital, establishing partnerships, sales, and negotiations
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and mentor young entrepreneurs
• A thorough understanding of the entrepreneurial eco-system, including venture capital, pitch development, term-sheets, equity distribution, valuation models, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, local and global legal requirements
• Well-connected in the local and global entrepreneurial and investor community, including strong links with the expatriate Pakistani community
• Excellent leadership and networking skills are a must for this position.
• Masters or a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from HEC recognized institute.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience with significant experience at managerial level.
• International exposure will be an added advantage.
