Qualification Required:MBA in Finance, Accounting, and/or Business Administration
Professional Experience:Must possess at least 10 years of experience in financial and/or internal auditing managementPrincipal Accountability:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and in capacity of being a member of the senior management of the company, to strategize, manage and oversee the company’s finance, accountancy and MIS, which include budgeting & planning, accounting policies and procedures; managing fiscal functions developing, implementing and modifying financial systems and internal controls; coordinating in assets and liabilities management of the company; general accounting, financial and MIS reporting; engaging with external financiers, reviewing contracts, grants management; and contributing advice in financial matters to the Management Board, CEO and the Board of Supervisors.
  • The overarching responsibility is to ensure that the financial transactions, processes and procedures are in concurrence with the DAB requirements, International Accounting standards, the company’s charter, the Board of Supervisors and Shareholder’s directives.

Core Skills & Essentials to Meet Job Expectations:Strategic Financial Budgeting & Planning

  • Leading the process of annual budgeting and planning.
  • Responsible for the financial models for business plan of the company.
  • Organizing key financial information required for the budgeting and planning exercise.
  • Analyzing and reporting periodic budgetary status including variance/ratio analysis.
  • Development and implementation of analytical accounting and cost analysis per branch, product.
  • Financial budgeting and planning for grants, technical assistance projects.
  • Financial budgeting and planning for new products, outlets as and when required.
  • Ensuring strong fiscal and administrative controls in line with approved budgets/plans.   

Accounting, Financial Management & Statutory Compliance

  • Developing and overseeing the company’s accounting and financial management systems including payroll accounting, and ensuring that necessary procedures and controls are developed and implemented.
  • Developing strategies for financial management, control and process improvements, which will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Monitoring accounting in decentralized core- company system.
  • Ensuring compliance to best practices in functions under supervision, specific compliance to taxation, legal and statutory requirements including international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and CGAP standards.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Timely, accurate and qualitative financial reporting.
  • Understanding the core company’s system and contributing in developing necessary modifications, reports to facilitate efficient financial reporting.
  • Undertaking detailed periodic analysis of the financial state of the company and making recommendations to the Management Board, CEO and the Board of Supervisors where required.
  • Monitoring financial reporting in decentralized core company’s system.
  • Cross checking and reviewing reliability of the financial reporting.

Asset/liability Management

  • Organizing key financial information required for the asset/liability management of the company.
  • Contribute to the ALM strategies and policies of the company to optimize the company’s earnings and minimize financial costs.
  • Develop the company’s funding strategy, by matching institutional needs and overall market context.
  • Lead negotiations with external financiers and coordinate up to the final agreement.
  • Undertake prescribed reporting and loan administration responsibilities for external financing to the company.
  • Contributing towards monitoring and reporting key ratios/limits required by internal and external regulations.
  • Supervise treasury back office functions and administer reporting and monitoring as required by the company’s risk management framework.

Audit and Financial Assessments

  • Playing a lead role in coordinating the work of external, internal, central company auditors, rating agencies, due diligence experts and financial assessors.
  • Ensuring appropriate and timely implementation of all audit recommendations relating to the finance function of the company.

Departmental Human Resources/Policies

  • Supervise and organize the staff of the department and transfer as much as possible the knowledge and practice to them.
  • Conduct objective oriented performance management of the departmental staff.
  • Develop a second-line by grooming national staff that will be able to manage the department after the end of the contract.
  • Ensure compliance with the existing policies and procedures of the department and develop policies and procedures in areas which are new or where the policies and procedures need to be improved.
