Job Description:

Position is responsible to provide advice, guidance and best practice awareness and training to SCBPL Consumer Banking (CB) internal stakeholders on Group and local regulatory requirements. Position will also be responsible to ensure that Regulatory & compliance risks regarding CB Business/ support functions are timely / proactively identified, assessed and mitigated/managed

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To ensure implementation of policies and procedures, established by the Group/Country Risk Committee and Group/Country Head of Compliance within the overall Group framework, to identify, assess, monitor, mitigate and report local Compliance risks for the Consumer Bank. Escalate issues with recommendations for remedial action. To monitor the implementation of remedial action.
  • To monitor the effective implementation and adherence of Group Compliance Risk policy, procedures and standards and external regulations.
  • To liaise with Operational Risk to ensure that they establish and monitor appropriate arrangements for meeting regulatory obligations and high standards of conduct in their businesses, in accordance with Group Compliance Policies, under the OR Framework.
  • To identify and report new and/or changing areas of laws and regulations. To guide the respective businesses to take pre-emptive action to ensure compliance.
  • To update control book in consultation with the operational risk and businesses.
  • To provide pro-active support on regulatory matters to the businesses. 
  • To ensure receipt of all regulations originating from regulators and their dissemination to the concerned businesses.
  • As advised or required by the Head of CB Compliance, to participate in the design and/or review of new products and systems, to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures and the Group’s ethical and compliance standards. 
  • Support Head of CB Compliance in the delivery of Compliance objectives and initiatives.  
  • To promote and maintain relationships with local regulators.  • To promote and maintain relationships with Group Audit, Group and Business Operational Risk teams and other support functions/businesses, as appropriate, to help ensure regulatory risks and issues are adequately identified and addressed.

Qualifications & Skills: 

  •  Thorough knowledge of banking regulations in Pakistan
  • Strong analytical skills. 
  • Good judgment enabling the provision of sound advice on regulatory matters. 
  • Personal authority, integrity and ethics.
  • An inquisitive approach to practices, procedures and specific transactions.
