PhD position in Computational Biology LUMS Uni Job in Lahore
A fully funded PhD position beginning August 2014 is available in the Mithani Lab(Computational Systems Biology) in the Department, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, Lahore University of Management Sciences. The lab’s main focus is the development of tools and techniques to analyse and understand high-throughput data. The current project involves genome reconstruction, annotation, comparative genomics and transcriptome analysis in mango. The project is in collaboration with the Afzal Lab(Plant Molecular Biology) at LUMS and will provide an excellent opportunity for the individual to develop skills in plant genomics and transcriptome analysis.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals with strong analytical and computational skills. Successful applicants must have obtained a research-based MSc degree in a related discipline (e.g., computer science, genomics, bioinformatics) and demonstrate interest and/or experience in team-based and interdisciplinary projects. Students with strong credentials (competitive GPA, strong English proficiency) and publications in peer-reviewed journals are encouraged to apply.
